We recognise our communities as being vital expressions of our mission. We commit ourselves to building communities that are life-giving through Gospel-sharing, prayer and celebration.

Closure of Community in Askern.
It was in late autumn 2010 that, with much regret, the Marist Sisters closed their community at 3 Moss Road Askern South Yorkshire in the Parish of Blessed English Martyrs, Diocese of Hallam.
For many years, the sisters ministered in the Parish where they appreciated the kindness and support of the Parish Priest Reverend Jim Kennedy and of all the parishioners among whom they worked and whom they loved.
Their departure from Askern was marked by a Mass celebrated by Right Reverend John Rawsthorn Bishop of Hallam assisted by Reverend J Kennedy and attended by Sister Pauline O'Neill Sector Leader of England together with many sisters from communities in England.

It was with sadness that the last community members, Sister Margaret Egan and Sister Carmelita Curry bade farewell to Askern, to the parish and parishioners.

Our mission flows from our charism supporting those wishing to improve the quality of their lives by spiritual renewal. It is from our community life of integrated prayer and ministry that we draw energy for mission. Marist Sisters communities are spread throughout nine Dioceses in England and Wales.
